Loud music greets us as we approach the auditorium. I search the area looking for Lena’s boyfriend. Jonah’s standing at the entrance with someone at his side. The golden-haired Adonis wearing faded jeans, a green graphic tee over a thermal shirt, and expensive sneakers takes one look at her and his lips lift into a smile. My gaze drifts from Jonah to the guy with him, six feet of muscular heaven. He has ‘just rolled out of bed’ dark hair. So sexy. His penetrating aquamarine eyes meet mine and something electric passes between us. This stranger excites me. My fingers and lips crave him. Is this attraction or my quirky nature kicking in? Whatever it is, I don’t want to fight it. The stranger has a thing for black, too—jeans, tee, leather jacket, boots. My interest meter inches up another notch. A part of me feels connected to him on a strange level. This sensation is intoxicating, but I warn myself. Stay calm. I don’t want to add him to my list of victims. Besides, someone would definitely take notice if he suddenly disappeared. Deep moans and slurping sounds interrupt my ogling. Jonah’s tongue is down Lena’s throat. Every time these two get together, it’s a freaking floor show. “Don’t mind us,” I say loudly. He backs up, and Lena wipes smeared lipstick from around her mouth. Turning my attention back to the hot stranger, I run a hand over my hair and ask, “Jonah, who’s your friend?” “Uh…yeah…” Jonah rubs his neck and says, “Ladies, this is Victor Duquette.” I smile and wave. Why did I wave? “Hi, I’m Kelsie. New in town?” “Yeah. My family just moved here.” Victor’s voice rumbles when he speaks. A foreign sensation of warmth floods my body. Oh man, staying away from him will be so difficult. “Let’s go, babe.” Jonah says and slides his arm around Lena’s waist. She blushes and leans into his side. A pang of jealousy hits me. I want Victor to touch me that way. “After you,” he says and sidesteps, allowing me to enter the building first. I sense him watching me walk by. Please don’t let me trip over my own two feet. Review: Darkness Before Dawn by Kellie Wallace

Switching gears, because we haven’t done one in a while, today’s review is a Historical Dark Romance by Kellie Wallace.

Darkness Before Dawn is a World War 2 era romance with a twist.

“In June 1940, Germany bombed the Island of Guernsey, bringing World War II to the Channel Islands. With her home in the midst of war, jazz singer Catherine La Mar must adapt to change. Within days, the island is overun. Resistance cells start to emerge, hindering the German forces. Catherine’s life is inevitably changed when childhood friend Thomas Potter is linked as the ringleader to one of the Island’s biggest cells.

The people she once knew are no longer who they seem to be. But nothing could prepare her for when she meets Nazi officer Captain Max Engel. Her view on the war forever changes when she is given a chance for love and new beginnings. For once in her mundane life she unveils her true self, as Max teaches her how to truly live. Their love puts a strain on Catherine’s family, risking the lives her sisters and friends. As the war intensifies and divides the people on Guernsey, Max and Catherine must decide if their love is really worth risking it all?”

So I always deny that  I like Dark Romance and in a way that’s true. I don’t like the ones that feature domestic violence of any kind (unless the abuser is getting their ass kicked as the victim walks out the door) or sexual assault as a basis for the love story.  Those of course aren’t all Dark Romances.  This particular one involves loving the enemy in a time of war.  The war is dark, the depiction of life on the occupied Channel Islands is dark, and the enemy is cruel. All of these things make for a depressing read, however,I found myself eagerly turning the pages for more.  I found the heroine, Catherine to be a flawed and real character.  She has loyalty to her countrymen, her family, and her friends but her attraction to Max is real, and undeniable.  For the first time in her life, she’s with someone who makes her happy.  They have tons of struggles and seriously you don’t know what’s happening until the very end.  It’s a roller coaster ride of dark deliciousness and has a good dose of Historical fact to drop in your lap as well.  This is the second World War 2 Romance that I’ve read by this author, and I can tell she enjoys writing about the time period and she knows her facts. It also made me realize that maybe I just might like some of the darker written stories (allow The Doctor to convey my reaction to this revelation) pxpr_f-maxage-0 I devoured this book and hope she has more Historicals on the horizon.

I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars.  I recommend it for Adults only as there is serious adult and violent historical content involved.

Review: Way Down Below by Nicole Thorn and Sarah Hall

It’s been a minute, but I’m back with a new review!large Today’s review: Way Down Below by Nicole Thorn and Sarah Hall, is a YA/NA Paranormal Romance.

Blurb: ” Ever since Luc Bishop’s brother died, he and his sisters have been hunting his killer. The last thing Luc expected was to meet Shiloh.

Shiloh Whittaker has spent her entire life trapped by her family’s religious beliefs. When she meets Luc, her entire world is turned upside down. For the last couple of years, Shiloh and her best friend, Faith, have been pulling away from their structured upbringing.

Then they meet the Bishops, three of many children Lucifer has sired. Shiloh wants nothing to do with them, but finds herself caught up in their lives when their brother’s killer comes back to play. With the killer circling, and Shiloh torn between two desires, she feels more caged than ever.”

The premise of the story is quite interesting: The spawn of Satan live among us as trouble making teenagers and are hunting their rogue sibling.  In between hunting, they take up with 2 young ladies who live under the strict thumb of their extremely conservative and extremely religious families.  Worlds collide and the story unfolds.  There’s romance, friendship, and some real coming-of – age stuff involved.

I would advise that this probably isn’t for younger or middle grade teens and definitely not a Children’s book as there are some adult themes being dealt with. I’m giving this book a 3 out of 5 stars.  The premise is interesting and the cover is gorgeous, but I had trouble connecting with the characters.  I felt they lacked depth and were only 2 dimensional.  With that being said, I do feel that younger readers (15-25) may connect better.
I do appreciate all the hard work that goes into creating a story and I don’t give ratings willy-nilly. If you would like to learn more about the authors and this novel, check out the link below.

Cover Reveal!!! Closet Case By K.M. Neuhold

So, this book is a little out of the norm for Bibliogal content, but here’s why we’re bringing it to you:

  1. It’s a continuation of a series titled Sexy Nerd Boys (and Nerds are in fact, a staple here.)
  2. We are Equal Opportunity when it comes to our readership! I’ve also personally read the first 2 novels of this series (see my reviews here and here) and while it is Contemporary Romance, it does narrowly fit the criteria and also, it’s my blog and I like the author! I won’t be doing a review, but I am proud to reveal the COVER and BLURB for her debut M/M Romance and 4th installment of the Sexy Nerd Boys Series….closet-case-cover

and here is the Blurb ❤

Closet Case (Sexy Nerd Boys, 4) by K.M.Neuhold

That awkward moment when you accidentally fool around with a closet case. I have a strict policy against dating closeted guys. Confused straight guys? Absolutely. Guys who don’t mind being out and proud? Duh. But closet cases are a hard pass. Been there, done that, have the t-shirt with a giant picture of a broken heart on it. It would be a lot easier to stick to my dating rule if Matthew Hart could be slightly less irresistible.

Being a closeted gay college football player is not all it’s cracked up to be. After I broke my high school boyfriend’s heart by refusing to come out of the closet, I swore off serious dating. I don’t want to hurt anyone like that again, and I’ll admit I’m protecting my own heart in the process, too. It was a lot easier to stick to my no dating rule before I laid eyes on Jax Greene. He’s exactly my type in every possible way. If there’s even the slightest chance that history won’t repeat itself, I want to see where things might lead. Convincing Jax to give me a chance though might be the toughest play I’ve ever made.

**This book is the first M/M installment of the Sexy Nerd Boys series, but can be read as a stand-alone. Recommended for 18+ due to language and all kinds of hot sex

Review: When Our Worlds Collide by Kellie Wallace

If you’ve been a fan of this blog for a while, then you know that we cover a LOT of Kellie Wallace’s work.  She’s a multi-genre author, who just happens to encompass all of our favorites.  Her recent work, When Our World’s Collide, is a Dystopian tale with a nice Robin Hood arc (or at least that’s what we thought). Once you read about The Ravens, you’ll understand 😉 148d121f772ba894a932f8d5462c5a2a

Amira’s peaceful city is taken over by a military regime, while it seems that the entire world is fighting in a bigger war.  Resources are thin and in a bid to be a help to her family, Amira accepts a position within the regime. Amira finds herself torn between loyalty to her family and to her beliefs.

This story has good bones and the overall theme is good.  The love story within it left me a teeny bit sour though.  The fellas were not likable by today’s standards at all. I’m not sure what the time period is for this story, but given that Wallace writes about World War 2 frequently, I would imagine it is somewhere in that realm.  The story moved quickly and kept me hooked enough to keep reading and want more! I’m giving it a 4 out of 5 Stars and continue to be a fan of Wallace’s and look forward to seeing more of her work. Dystopian fans and fans of intrigue should enjoy this tome.  It’s dark, so probably not for young teens and definitely not for kids.

Happy Reading!
